Liposuction for Internet Marketers
Do you know why the weight loss market is so profitable? Because just like the “make money online” group wants to push a button and get rich, people want a “magic pill” to lose weight.
Let me ask you something…
If you wanted to lose 5 pounds of pure fat and you knew you could do it in 6 weeks, would you follow the diet and exercise plan to make it happen?
It’s a lot of hard work and you keep getting side-tracked by advertisement for weight loss pills, ab machines, or Britney Spears’ secret diet.
But if you just get started and stick with the plan, ignoring everything else, you would certainly attain your goal. But it’s not that easy. Is it?
On top of all the promises of an easy fix, you have work, family, and the housework to face every day. So then it becomes a matter of time.
So what’s the answer? Liposuction? That’s not a quick and painless fix. But to many, it’s easier than six weeks of diet and exercise.
But it is expensive and you would have to maintain it. Because if you went back to your sluggish lifestyle, you’d be right back where you were when you started.
Internet marketing is exactly the same…
If you’d just get started and stick with a plan, ignoring everything else, you would certainly attain your goal. But just like weight loss, it’s not easy.
You could buy a business or have somebody build one for you. But if you don’t have the basic marketing skills to maintain it, you’ll be right back where you were at the start.
So what’s the answer?
“Learn the Basics or You’ll be Chasing Your Tail Forever.”
That’s an article I wrote in September of 2007 and if you are suffering from information overload and keep thinking “there has got to be an easier way,” wise up and read this article. You’ll be glad you did.
By the way, I got the idea for that title from my dog…
Best regards,
Derrick Van Dyke

Hi Derrick,
Very concise, and hits home for many of us.
I like the reference to the dog…
What we all need to remember, and it is a daily exercise and workout…FOCUS!
Even when it feels hard, and things are not working the way we want, perseverance is the key.
Keep doing what is needed to build and grow your business, and in time (usually not as long as we think!), we get the success, even in small steps.
Focus on your vision, and keep working toward it!
Thanks!
Paul
So far as a learner Iam still trying to finalize my getting started at Spiderweb but your advice of sticking to the plan is taken. Your report is very informative and encourageous. Thank you
kAYA.
Hi Derrick,
I loved the reference to the dog. It reminded me of my 8 month old puppy. She sure get’s on my nerves at times but some of the stuff she does just makes you smile.
I have to agree with Paul above about focus. One way that I have found for me it to do one thing at a time. Don’t do 2, 3, 4 and more tasks at one time. Doing one at a time allows me to focus and finish that task before going on to the next. And shifting from one task to another shifts my mind faster than if I try doing several tasks at one time and go back and forth between them.
Thanks for all the great info that you provide.
Heidi
What’s all this about liposuction?
Pretty brutally honest stuff but dead on accurate. Thanks Derrick for giving me some direction and truth. I have learned a lot but not nearly enough. I need to get busy. Thanks.
Gerald
Great article as usual Derrick and I believe that You are spot on. I wonder if Your readers here are picking up on the overall interest on Your small mention of the dog? Just goes to show to me that people are interested in real life even though we are all behind computer screens - keeping it real goes a long way to building relationships and success online. Kindest Regards - Graham Price “The Sales Guy”
Great article as always. Looking forward to the next.
Hi derrick
I just sign up the AFC a short while ago. I notice you did not mention on ways to promote AFC through ADwords.

A good read, it should prove very helpful to those new to Internet Marketing.
Derick;
All I can say at this time is,”I should have listen to you a long time ago”but you can bet I’ll have a lot more to say in the future sometime soon.
Wilf.
I really like the analogy with the weight loss. It really made me think about internet marketing in a different way. It is very hard, just starting out, to not get distracted from my tasks at hand. When I’m distracted then is seems that I never complete anything! So, for this month, I am only focusing on your 30 day challenge…we’ll see how it goes. I’m excited!

I must say that its a great thing to have someone so honest and concise about issues. You have given me the correct view of internet business. Some people made it seem it was so easy and I almost packed up when I found it wasn’t. Hope to be under your tutelage. You’re a born teacher. Thanks.
