Boost Profits With PHP

July 19, 2007 · Filed Under Affiliate Marketing, Business Basics, Covert Tactics

Here’s a quick tip that will boost your profits - especially if you’re using verified optin.

After someone subscribes to your list, you have two options:

1. Send them to a thank you page that explains how to verify their subscription to download the free gift. You can add a link to the product you’re promoting. But there’s no guarantee they will click on it. You can also tag them with a cookie, but there’s no guarantee they’ll ever get to the sales page.

2. You can send them straight through your affiliate link to the sales page. This may increase your sales. But they subscriber may feel cheated because they didn’t get a confirmation page. They want their freebie! So that may not put them in the best mood to buy.

Here’s a solution…

Use a simple PHP redirect to show them a confirmation page and then redirect them to the sales page.

Click here for a live example.

Here’s the code below. Just place it at the top of your confirmation page between PHP tags (Wordpress won’t all me to post them here). Then save as a PHP file (i.e. redirect.php) and upload to your server.

header(”Refresh: 5; URL=affiliatecashsecrets.com”);
Replace “affiliatecashsecrets.com” with your affiliate link.

Let me know what you think by leaving a comment below…

    Hi Derrick:

I have a website and I’m so new that I wanted to purchase your reseller rights to Affiliate Cash Secrets but I have no idea how to upload that to my server and then get it on my website. I am a newbie and I’m just trying to grab this whole concept. My hosting service is hostgator. Anyway if you could give me some advice on how to do this I would be more than willing to purchase your reseller rights.

    Hi,
    Thanks for the tip.
I am aware of this problem but i feel that in this business, it may be an advantage to make them confirm their email first. For the simple reason that you want to build a list of interested people who are willing to spend some money. Not free loaders.
It is not the length of your list but the people on that list that matters

Thank you greatly for this info. It seems to provide an answer to me about creating OTO’s, also. Have OTO software, etc. on my HD from GAevents, but my preference is to try this first. Lastly, I feel honored to be on your list, as I’ve only know of your eecellent reputatio, and appreciate all immensely.

    Sincerely,
    Richard R.

That’s cool! I’ll have to try it on some of my websites. :-)

Derrick: The same thing can be done with an HTML metatag, example:

This holds the current page for 15 seconds then redirects to the url specified.

  19. Michael on July 20th, 2007 9:13 am

You can also use a ‘meta refresh tag’ if you don’t want to bother with php, this works with html files or php files.

you just add the code between the tags of the page that will be doing the redirecting and put the content in the body area

here’s a link to learn about it …

Well, this sounds easy….if you have done it before or have even built a webpage. For us newbies you are speaking a whole different language, you may as well be from Mars or Saturn. Yes I would love to make more money but if I don’t know how to make the first page, how am I going to put this “php” code on the confirmation page??? I wish you had one program for newbies, one for advanced and one for pro’s. Now that would be easier for us new kids on the block.
