What is Your Goal?
I was lying awake this morning (avoiding the aftermath of my daughter’s slumber party) and thinking about how I got where I am today…and how my journey could benefit you.
I started in the trenches promoting other people’s products and earning a little commission here and there. It wasn’t enough to quit my day job. But it was motivating to know it was possible.
Then I discovered the list… I had read enough ebooks to convince me that ‘the money was in the list’. All the ‘big boys’ were doing it…so that became my next goal.
I stopped sending traffic directly to the merchants website and started promoting my squeeze page (they were called lead capture pages at the time). I was giving away someone else’s ebook (which didn’t benefit me) but it worked.
In fact, it worked so well I was eventually able to quit my job and work full time at home.
I did everything I could to maximize my income…
I created my own ebook with my affiliate links to give away to my subscribers. I even made it viral by giving people rights to my report so people would pass it on to others.
I swapped ads with other publishers to get more subscribers.
I even bought co-reg leads at one time. But that turned out to be more trouble than it was worth.
Eventually, my business reached it’s full potential. There was only so much one man could do.
At that point, I was reading an ebook by Jimmy D. Brown called “The Free Traffic System.” It was one of the first ebooks that showed you how to start your own affiliate program.
The lights went on and I suddenly had a new goal…
I purchased rights to an information product and set up an affiliate program. Within weeks, new life was being pumped into my business and the limits were broken.
I soon realized that there was a direct correlation between my income and the productivity of my affiliates.
In other words, the more I helped my affiliates to make money, the more money I made. It was a win-win situation.
